Kánaak Corporation, formally known as TriQuest Corporation, is a
wholly owned Sealaska subsidiary, providing diversity procurement
manufacturing solutions in the government and commercial contracting
arenas. As an Alaska Native corporation, Sealaska is a minority
business by federal law providing a diversity supply status for all of
its majority-owned subsidiaries, joint ventures and partnerships.
Kánaak (kaw nock) means "people standing together" in the Tlingit language.
Legend
tells us of a Tlingit clan leader who entered a bay as salmon began to
group. The salmon began to come out of the water in a frenzy, appearing
as if they were standing on their tails together in the cove. "Kánaak!"
said the leader. "Just as our people stand together, so do the salmon."
Ká
= man ; naak = stand.
The word expresses the uniting of companies
Sealaska Corporation and Nypro Inc. standing together for the benefit
of our customers. Kánaak Corporation embodies principles developed over
millennia and speaks to trade and commerce for which the Tlingit have
always been known.
Sealaska is a for-profit Alaska Native corporation representing more than 17,300 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders.
