Northwest Minority Business Council
The Northwest Minority Business Council, the northwest regional affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), has been a part of the northwest business community for 25 years. In 1976, Robert L. Ryan, Boeing corporate administrator for Small Disadvantaged Business Development Programs, facilitated the formation of the Puget Sound Minority Supplier Development Council. In February 2000, the Council changed its name to the Northwest Minority Business Council, to better reflect the geographical area it served. Beyond Puget Sound, the Council continues to serve Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Washington.

Kánaak Corporation has been an active member of the Northwest Minority Business Council since 2004.

In order for minority businesses to be affiliated with the Northwest Minority Business Council, have access to its corporate members and be eligible for the many programs and services offered, it is necessary to complete the certification process. It is also the certification that corporate America accepts and requires. Once certified and part of the NMSDC Network, over two-thirds of minority business enterprises (MBEs) confirm business increases due to their partnership with the Council's corporate members. In 2004 the largest U.S. corporations purchased more than $80 billion in goods and services supplied by MBEs. Corporations prefer to do business with certified MBEs. Wisconsin Supplier Development Council
The Wisconsin Supplier Development Council is the NMSDCs regional affiliate that services the states of Wisconsin, central Illinois and Iowa.

Kánaak Corporation received its reciprocal certification in 2004, and continues to be a member in good-standing.
